British low-cost airline Easyjet has canceled more than 200 flights in the next two weeks. The company announced on Saturday that this was necessary to maintain reliable service. According to the airline, customers should be able to rebook or request refunds.
It is reported that around 24 flights a day from London’s Gatwick airport will be affected from June 6. In addition to the upcoming celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II’s jubilee, the school holidays are also approaching in England.
Flights canceled due to software problem
Easyjet had to cancel about 200 flights on Thursday due to a software error. The upcoming outages should have nothing to do with that, reports the BBC. Instead, various issues such as airport delays, construction work, and air traffic control restrictions should come into play.
Eurowings wants to board in Berlin
Easyjet is partially withdrawing from the BER airport in the German capital and wants to station fewer machines there due to the reduced demand, as was recently announced. The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings wants to take advantage of the withdrawal. Once the details of Easyjet’s planned downsizing in Berlin are clear, Eurowings will expand its offering there, explains Eurowings boss Jens Bischof. “It is not yet clear which routes are involved, where we jump into the gap.”
