Circulation failed – heat wave already demanded several fatalities

Date:

The extreme temperatures in Europe have already cost several people their lives. Hundreds of rescue workers had to be taken care of.

Large parts of France were covered by heat on Tuesday. For 16 departments, including the Metropolis Paris, the highest level of warning was red. In the south and in Central France, the temperatures climbed locally to more than 41 degrees Celsius, 38 degrees were measured in Paris.

According to media reports, it was more hot in some places in France than ever in a July since the start of the measurement. After complaints from Hitte, two people died, the French Minister of Environment Agnès Pannier-Runacher announced. More than 300 people were provided by rescue workers.

Forgotten guys in the car
The current heat wave is also very noticeable in Spain. In many places the temperatures surpassed the 40-degree for the last time. On Tuesday a two -year -old boy died in Catalonia, who had forgotten by his parents in the car, who stood in the flaring sun for a few hours.

Seem to be found while extinguishing work
Two people died in the forest fire that raged in Spain. The Brandbrigade reported on Tuesday when extinguishing work near the city of Coscó in Catalonia. Almost two forest fires broke out in the region. The cause of the fire was initially unclear, but the fire brigade referred to the current extreme temperatures and drought, as well as the strong wind that the flames had flared up.

Forest fires in Turkey under control
Turkey is spared from the heat wave that prevails in South Europe, but suffers from drought caused by climate change. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the forest fires in the west and south of the country are largely under control. The fires in the province of Izmir on the Aegean coast, which has been raging since Sunday evening, were “partially controlled,” said Minister of Agriculture Ibrahim Yumakli in a management report on Tuesday evening. “The cooling efforts will continue all night and the coming days,” he added.

In Hatay and Antakya in southern Türkiye, “no special difficulties” would also be expected in connection with the fires that are angry, he emphasized. The area was destroyed by a major earthquake in 2023.

No improvement in vision
At the same time, the minister continued to warn of difficult weather conditions: “Extreme heat is predicted for the current week, which requires that we will remain alert by 15 October”. Yumakli called on to stay “careful and vigilant”.

The minister had previously warned that “large parts of Marmara, the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea” would expect strong wind and the temperatures would rise.

Fearns by wind
Six fires, especially in the south of the country, were active all Tuesday, heated by strong wind. A total of 342 forest fires have broken out since Friday, the minister said. He warned against making outdoors or easily leaving flammable materials in the sun.

A total of 50,000 people – including 42,000 in the Izmir area and more than 5,000 in Hatay – were brought to safety on Monday. Hundreds of houses were destroyed, as the emergency authority explained.
