The robots are coming: Tesla boss Elon Musk shows the way with Optimus and wants to replace human employees with cybernetic employees on a large scale in his car factories. But Optimus has many rivals: many start-ups, some of whose founders previously did research for the military, want to turn humanoid robots into billion-dollar companies. Amazon and now BMW are already experimenting with it.
The automotive industry is particularly highly automated; It is not without reason that the level of automation in car-exporting countries such as Germany, Japan or South Korea is higher than that of other economies. But manual work is also often required in car factories, which is why BMW has now announced a collaboration with the robotics start-up Figure from the US.
