Local chemical giant Borealis’ plans to sell its fertilizer division to the Agrofert group of Czech billionaire and former prime minister Andrej Babis are ringing alarm bells at the Lower Austrian Farmers’ Union. The Boerenbond now engages a cartel lawyer.
“As food producers, our farmers depend on fertilizers. A sale to an oligarch jeopardizes domestic supplies. Fertilizer production may not be transferred,” emphasize chairman Stephan Pernkopf and director Paul Nemecek.
Now the farmers’ association is shifting up a gear: “It’s time to take legal action.” The international antitrust law experts from the German law firm Hausfeld Rechtsanwälte LLP are now taking over the case. You’ve already successfully put Google in its place.
