What security measures have prevented an important act from simply disappearing? None – is the response from FPÖ State Councilor Martin Zauner to an urgent request from the Greens. The files on the dubious purchase of the Abramowitsch villa in Fuschl were destroyed as planned “to make room,” says Zauner.
This concerns 75 percent of the archives and therefore hundreds of documents! All documents after 2008 are still recorded in electronic form. However, in the dubious purchase of a villa by a British curator in 2007, this was only partially the case: the process was recorded electronically, but the important documents were missing.
Land hopes for the archives of the municipality of Fuschl
As reported, the Greens of Salzburg called for the reversal of the sale of the oligarch villa on Lake Fuschl. The fisherman’s house was bought in 2018 by the daughter of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
But as the investigative network “Cyprus Confidential” has revealed, the villa, including two hectares of forest and 6,600 square meters of agricultural land, came into the hands of the oligarch family through an offshore company and a British trustee. The Greens suspect a violation of the Land Traffic Act. But the shredded documents relating to the British woman’s purchase are needed for a reversal.
Now the hope rests on the municipality of Fuschl and the Chamber of Agriculture: both bodies were asked to comment on the 2007 land transfer process. The missing documents may still be there. The Greens want to examine the electronic file, at least what is left of it.
