High beer prices – “As a landlord you have the feeling of being in a sadomasochistic studio”

Date:

Sepp Schellhorn gets upset – and likes to get upset. Now it is the high beer price that makes the blood of the restaurateur and NEOS politician boil. Schellhorn Krone+ reveals why innkeepers are innocent of the hop dilemma, why clubs are planning the death knell and whether beer will become a luxury good.

More than five euros for half – unfortunately no longer unusual. Inflation is high and is affecting Austrians’ favorite drink: beer. The Brauunion and a number of smaller breweries will soon increase prices again. This is due to the cost pressure caused by inflation and increased wage costs. The result: in local restaurants the half pint will become 20 to 40 cents more expensive in the coming weeks.
