There is currently a specter haunting Europe: the specter of deindustrialization. Economically liberal professors, corporate spokespersons and bourgeois parties are joining forces against this. The fear: ‘big’ industry could withdraw from European countries. Where? To Asia of course, although it no longer really matters which part of this continent that is. Wherever – from a European perspective – endless, busy armies run huge industrial conglomerates producing everything from paper clips to large power plants.
