The medical technology group Philips has been struggling with technical problems with various devices it manufactures for more than two years. While this initially concerned ventilators and MRI machines, hundreds of CT products are now also subject to a recall.
In a statement on Thursday, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said 553 devices in the US were affected. These need to be repaired urgently now! Authorities classified the case at the highest danger level.
Danger to life in case of a breakdown
Using devices manufactured between 2007 and 2013 may result in serious injury or even death. Some of the equipment may become loose and fall.
Recall of MRI machines, problems with ventilators
The recall is another problem for Philips in the United States. The company has had problems with certain sleep therapy fans for more than two years. An insulating foam was incorporated into this, from which particles came off. The recall and precautionary measures for known legal disputes cost well over a billion euros. At the end of January, the company stopped selling ventilators in the country. In December, Philips also had to initiate a recall for MRI machines.
