Now it’s official: the Innsbruck Regional Court opened bankruptcy proceedings on Friday over the assets of Signa founder René Benko. The real estate investor himself had previously filed for bankruptcy as an entrepreneur.
The Credit Protection Association 1870 (KSV1870) announced this this morning. The Tyrolean real estate investor had thus admitted bankruptcy, it was said.

“The consequences of the bankruptcy proceedings concern the consultancy firm and all private assets of René Benko,” according to KSV1870. His assets abroad also count: “In short, it now concerns the entire assets” of the founder of Signa, says Klaus Schaller, regional manager of KSV1870 for the West.
