“Precautionary Measure” – Lifebrain staff threatened with new wave of layoffs

Date:

The Corona testing lab Lifebrain has reactivated the AMS warning system – on May 24, as announced on Thursday. “The workforce has therefore applied to the AMS for termination,” the works council said in an email. It is not yet clear how many employees are involved.

As reported, the large lab had laid off about 42 percent of its employees by the end of April. The reason: the reduction in test volumes. With the number of free exams reduced to five per person per month since April 1, the number of test kits issued in April fell to about one-tenth from the first quarter of 2022, the company said at the time.

Political and epidemiological development again as reason
In the meantime, the occupancy rate has probably decreased further. It is currently being “intensively evaluated,” said the “Krone.” With the activation of the early warning system, a “correct and economic precaution” has been taken. The reason for the renewed wave of layoffs is political and epidemiological development.

“Transparent communication” has been sought, according to the email that the Lifebrain works council sent to staff. Notifications can actually be made on June 24 at the earliest.
