There are currently 1,656 young Carinthians trying to get a job or an internship. But that doesn’t seem that simple. The “Krone” looked at the mood of young Carinthians and spoke to experts about the reasons for the rising unemployment rates.
A huge increase of 23.6 percent among unemployed people under the age of 25 is ringing alarm bells at the Carinthian Public Employment Service (AMS). Because while the numbers are falling in all other age groups, there has been a sharp increase in this category. “This clearly goes against the trend,” says Peter Wedenig, Carinthia’s AMS boss, who does not want to attribute the reasons for high unemployment to the laziness of young people.
