Utilizing the largest sports stage in the world: that is what Tyrol wants to do at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. There will be an “Austria Tirol Haus” with dishes and hospitality from the Alpine country. But that is not the only Olympic goal.
The collaboration between Tirol, Austria Advertising and the ÖOC is reportedly about to be signed. Tyrol must provide indoor and outdoor dining options and spoil guests with local products. “Negotiations are currently underway to clarify the last important details,” says the Habitat Tirol Group, which is coordinating the project.
“Show Tyrol in the best light”
Tirol Werbe has already gained experience with these types of performances at the games in London and Sochi. This time, the Habitat Tirol Group will work together with Tirol Advertising, Agricultural Marketing and Location Agency to develop the concept to best present Tyrol not only as a holiday destination, but also as a business location.
Josef Margreiter, Chairman of the Lebensraum Tirol Group, speaks in a first statement about a great opportunity: “We are very interested in to build on the successful performances in London and Sochi and place Tyrol with all its facets on this acclaimed stage.”
After Paris also at the start in Milan-Cortina
It is not yet clear what the performance will cost Tyrol. However, expenditure will apparently be lower than at the 2012 London Games. More than a million euros were invested at the time.
One point is already clear about what the performance will bring to Tyrol: the “Austria Tirol Haus” will also participate in the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina in 2026.
Councilor for Tourism and Economic Affairs Mario Gerber (ÖVP) sees great added value in the collaboration, not only for tourism, but for the entire Tyrolean economy.
