As head of Siemens Austria (approximately 3,000 employees, 1.4 billion euros annual turnover), Viennese Patricia Neumann is closely involved in developments in the economy. In the ‘Krone’ interview she talks about threats and opportunities for the location – and gives readers tips for their career.
“Kron”: More and more large companies are moving part of their production to Asia or the US because it is cheaper there. Is this also a threat at Siemens?
Patricia Neumann: Siemens was born in Germany, grew up in Europe and now lives worldwide. Yes, it hurts to see countries in Europe becoming less competitive compared to Eastern Europe or Asia and a shift happening. This question does not currently arise for Siemens Austria, but there is of course international competition in terms of energy and labor costs.
