Facua indicates that travelers can claim other extra costs they have incurred, such as hotels or even moral damages
After days of controversy over the queues arising at passport controls for third country travelers at Spanish airports, it was not very clear who was responsible and who should be claimed. Now consumer association Facua ensures that affected users can request a full refund of the ticket.
But who is being asked? According to the association, the Ministry of the Interior itself is responsible for the said police checks. Thus, the numerous users who denounce the long queues “up to two hours” at border controls at the main Spanish airports will be able to claim the return of tickets from the interior “as well as all the other additional costs incurred in the .”
That means hotel accommodation, organized travel, connecting or return flights (if the outward journey is cancelled), extra costs for having to take another flight with a different departure time or for the waiting time between the original and the end, etc., says Facua.
In addition, the association ensures that the immaterial damage that the loss of that flight may cause to the affected party, such as the loss of their holidays or part of it, can also be claimed.
In this way, Facua advises users to provide all the evidence possible to show that the delay was due to the queues and that the user had come in sufficient time and on schedule, such as “photos where you can demonstrate the time you arrived at the airport, or witnesses to confirm this.
