When one door closes, another opens – this motto could apply to some of the employees who are having to leave Fronius due to the crisis in the solar energy division. After the technology group announced on Monday that it wants to let go of 450 employees in Upper Austria, the Swiss Post is now entering the race with vacancies.
Fronius, where there is currently simply not enough demand for the inverters, informed the affected employees on Monday about the measures that will lead to the dismissal of a total of 650 employees. So far, 450 employees work for the technology group from Pettenbach in Upper Austria, and another 200 in the Czech Republic and Germany.
“I am very sorry that we had to say goodbye to valuable and deserving team members for cost reasons,” says Elisabeth Engelbrechtsmüller-Strauß, CEO of Fronius. While discussions about a social plan are still ongoing at the family business, other companies are already positioning themselves to fill their own vacancies through cutbacks at Fronius.
There are 160 jobs available at the post office
The Austrian Post announced on Wednesday that it is looking for a total of 160 new employees in Upper Austria – in logistics centers, in delivery, in IT and in other areas. An application can be submitted at any time.
