Luxury problem in the region: preference for coffee ruined a holiday

Date:

In 2023, the regional coffee roaster celebrated a record year in terms of production volume and this year, coffee production in Marchtrenk is also in full swing again. How this even disrupted company holidays and what stimulates demand, you can read here.

Sparstraße 1 in Marchtrenk: The Regio brand, part of the trading company, is located right next to the headquarters of Spar Upper Austria and is home to Austria’s largest coffee roaster, whose products are sold in Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and also in northern Italy.

Demand for products from the regional roastery has continued to rise in recent years. Last year, Marchtrenk produced over 4,000 tons of roasted coffee for the first time.

More and more Austrians have fully automatic machines at home
What drives the development? “Spar is growing and we are growing with it,” says CEO Iris Grieshofer. In addition, during the Corona period, coffee drinking was moved to the home. “Many people have bought fully automatic machines,” explains the resident of Linz. The fact that own brands are taking off in times of inflation also helps. “We offer top quality at a top price,” emphasizes Grieshofer.

The pleasure of coffee is something you can’t miss; this year, similar quantities will probably be sold as in 2023. To cope with this, the company holiday has been reduced from two weeks to one week. The coffee roastery will therefore not be completely closed until next week. Then there will be time for revision work.
