The shrinking workforce means that Steyr Automotive is now responding. The vehicle manufacturer, owned by Styrian entrepreneur Siegfried Wolf since autumn 2021, is looking for tenants for vacant offices on the former MAN factory site.
At the end of July it was announced that Steyr Automotive had registered 200 employees for dismissal with the AMS early warning system, which could mean that the number of employees at the former MAN factory could even fall below 1,000.
Almost three years after the takeover by Siegfried Wolf, who had big plans for the Steyr site together with the Russian GAZ Group, the vehicle manufacturer has shrunk enormously. The war and the associated sanctions thwarted the plans of the Styrian entrepreneur.
Environment is difficult
The lighthouse project with the electric truck start-up Volta was hit hard by bankruptcy. Despite acquisitions such as the special construction activities of MUT, the order situation is difficult, combined with general uncertainty in many markets.
Since Steyr Automotive now occupies much less space on the factory site, it is actively looking for tenants. The location database standortooe.at now contains 2,500 square meters of offices and conference rooms on Schönauerstrasse, which are immediately available. If necessary, the area can also be divided and thus reduced.
