Shops are dying out – closed: Neunkirchen city centre is dying out

Date:

Sad picture – in Neunkirchen six important shops in the city centre are closing or leaving in a short time. Billa and BIPA are moving together with a cent market to a new building on the edge of the city. An electronics store will soon open outside the city.

A stricken businessman, Michael Liska, presented in the display of his gift shop the reasons why it is no longer worth doing business there. “These are quotes from people who came into the shop and didn’t buy anything,” Liska explained. On Friday, he closed his shop again after a year and a half.

No individual fate. A toy store and a women’s boutique have also recently closed. BIPA and Billa will soon be moving out of the city to a newly planned area on the outskirts. And at the end of October, DM’s popular cosmetics and hairdressing department will close its doors. “With the closure, the space gained now benefits the trade and all employees have been given the opportunity to continue working for our customers in adjacent studios,” says DM’s marketing department.

City marketing in Neunkirchen is constantly trying to develop new concepts “It is important for us to bring innovative business ideas to Neunkirchen,” says city marketing boss Thomas Rack. In addition, most rents are very cheap, says Rack.

Rumors denied – Fussl stays and renovates
There have been persistent rumors for months that the Fussl fashion store in the city center will also close. “That is absolutely not the case,” confirms company boss Ernst Mayr personally in an interview with “Krone”: “On the contrary, we are even planning a renovation this year.”

And new businesses are also settling in. A women’s boutique will soon open in the city centre and an electronics store will open on the Spitz. A bakery has also shown interest, promises city marketing boss Rack.
