Innviertel residents on board – electric taxis will soon be ready to go

Date:

Thanks to prominent partners such as Stellantis and United Airlines, Archer’s electric aircraft will soon go into series production. The FACC is also participating: Urban Air Mobility is interesting for the residents of Innviertel in several respects. CEO Robert Machtlinger reveals why this is the case.

Archer Aviation, a California company, wants to conquer the skies with electric planes: Saudi Arabia is vying for a partnership; Tests are planned in India for next year; Stellantis recently committed up to $400 million to further development.

“Development is moving in the right direction”
For FACC, Archer’s vertical take-off and landing air taxis are one of the many drone projects that the Innviertel company is currently pursuing. “The development of urban air mobility is moving in the right direction. Business is picking up,” says Robert Machtlinger, CEO of FACC.

He says development orders totaling approximately $90 million are currently being processed in this future market. “For us this is a very interesting story because we develop, certify and release completely new materials and processes. And we want to use them in the next generations of commercial aircraft, which was and will remain our core business,” the manager emphasizes.

At Archer, flying is becoming increasingly a reality: an assembly plant is currently being built in the US state of Georgia. “We develop the fuselage, the wing structures and the interior. We have delivered the first prototypes and we have already started series production,” said the FACC boss.

United Airlines has several projects underway
In addition, Eve’s Brazilian project is also about to get off the ground. Interesting: United Airlines is the operator of both projects. The airline is already figuring out in which metropolises the air taxis will be deployed.
