The rumor has been going around for some time, but now it is clear: Germany’s largest car manufacturer Volkswagen wants to close at least three factories. Soon, tens of thousands of jobs will no longer exist and entire departments may be moved abroad.
Group works council head Daniela Cavallo (49) announced on Monday morning that employees had been informed about this. If that isn’t enough, all remaining locations will shrink.
“All German VW factories are affected by these plans. “No one is safe!” Cavallo could hardly calm the tense employees. She did not provide further details. According to the works council, the Osnabrück factory could be in its sights. It had recently lost a follow-up order from Porsche.
