Amazon has revised its return policy for this year’s Christmas business. This means that return periods for most items will change in the consumer’s favor. But there are stumbling blocks…
What to give? Many of us will be faced with this question in the coming days and weeks leading up to Christmas – and so are turning to Amazon for help. With a market share of twelve percent (excluding Marktplaats), the American retail giant remains the undisputed number one among online providers, according to data from RegioData Research. In addition, another 17 percent is added for your own marketplace. The Otto Group and fashion retailer Zalando follow far behind in second and third place with a share of five and four percent respectively in domestic online retail.
Changed return policy
In addition to price, product selection and shipping, the ease of returning items is one of the main reasons why consumers order from the market leader. And to keep it that way, it has now revised its returns policy for the 2024 Christmas period to allow for longer returns on purchases – but many product categories that are particularly popular as gifts have different rules.
