“Crisis-proof” positions – Bankruptcy Kika/Leiner: Post Office vacancies

Date:

After the recent bankruptcy of furniture giant Kika/Leiner, approximately 1,400 employees are faced with losing their jobs. Austria’s Post AG responded on Thursday, offering jobs to those affected; the post office could accommodate up to 700 people. Furniture manufacturer Dan Küchen already spoke on Wednesday and announced that he would also try to find the employees who would become available.

“We mainly need staff for customer service, planning and installation of the factory. Many studios are looking for someone for kitchen planning and sales,” explains Dan Kitchen director Ewald Marschallinger.

But there is also a need for flexibility in the financial sector, where flexibility is possible through modern working methods. Dan Küchen is financially extremely stable and has not borrowed any money.

“Crisis-proof” post office offers 700 jobs
The postal service and its subsidiaries in Austria are looking for almost 700 additional employees in sales, logistics centers, delivery, truck drivers and IT. Positions may be full-time, part-time or even part-time.

“As Swiss Post, we have proven in recent years that we are an attractive and, above all, crisis-resistant employer. That is why we offer all those involved to apply directly to us. I am confident that many people can be offered a suitable job,” said Walter Oblin, Managing Director of Österreichische Post AG.

Kika/Leiner files for bankruptcy
Kika/Leiner will file its bankruptcy petition with the court on Thursday. Then there should be the first official data on obligations. The application must also clarify whether the company is attempting to restructure again or whether bankruptcy proceedings should be opened. However, creditor protectors estimate that the chances of the company continuing to operate are slim.

Benkos Signa sold furniture store in 2023
The furniture store has been in crisis for several years; in the past ten years there have been three ownership changes, one bankruptcy and numerous branch closures. In 2023, Rene Benkos Signa sold the Kika/Leiner properties to Graz Supernova and the operational furniture store to trading manager Hermann Wieser.

Shortly afterwards, the company filed for bankruptcy and 23 of its 40 locations were closed as part of the restructuring. The renovation was supposed to last until September 2025, but has now failed.
