Consumer prices in Austria were on average 1.9 percent higher in November than a year ago – as expected in the flash estimate from almost three weeks ago.
Compared to the previous month of October 2024, the average price level increased by 0.3 percent, CBS announced on Wednesday. This meant that inflation was below the European Central Bank’s (ECB) target of 2 percent for the third month in a row.
Domestic energy as a price damper
In October, the price increase was slightly lower than the year before, at 1.8 percent. According to the statisticians, the strongest price dampeners in November 2024 were again lower prices for household energy.
