The traditional Gibiser inn in Burgenland has closed its doors after more than 100 years.
King Juan Carlos of Spain was a guest, as were actors, athletes and politicians. Whether it is the majesty from far away or the craftsman from next door – to the living room of Gerlinde Gibiser in Heiligenkreuz in the Lafnitztal everyone was happy to come back. “It doesn’t work, it doesn’t exist,” was the cheerful motto of the passionate landlady. The regular guests supported her through thick and thin and always remained loyal to her.
The inn was founded in 1910 by his great-grandfather. For generations, the popular meeting place has made a name for itself with excellent cuisine and warm hospitality. Gerlinde Gibiser took over the company from her aunt Edith in 1998 and continued it with passion and dedication until the end.
MP Verena Dunst, who worked at the Gibiser Inn during her student years: “We will all miss this special meeting place!”
