Mainstay in Egypt – plastic giant “Alpla” on expansion course

Date:

The acquisition took place in December 2024: the hard plastic giant integrated the site in Egypt by acquiring all shares of its joint venture partner ‘Taba’.

The globally active packaging and recycling specialists from Vorarlberg have long been producing plastic bottles, preforms and closures for the markets of North Africa and the Middle East in their factory in the “10th of Ramadan City” near Cairo. Since 2024, the location has also been the accounting headquarters for the entire Africa, Middle East and Turkey (Amet) region. The Harder company is now further investing in the growth region of North Africa. Eight years after the founding of “Alpla Taba” in Egypt, the majority shareholder takes over all shares of the joint venture partner “Taba”. The shares were acquired on December 16, 2024. The contracting parties agreed not to disclose the terms.

450 employees in Cairo
“The close collaboration with Taba has laid the foundation for our success. During our time together, we have consolidated our leading position in the market. Now we are taking the next step,” explains Regional Managing Director Javier Delgado. Alpla employs approximately 450 people in its state-of-the-art production plant in “10th of Ramadan City”. In addition to international brand manufacturers, Alpla also supplies to local companies.

With the start in Egypt, those responsible for the group have expanded the portfolio to include standard packaging for pharmaceutical products and are now one of the leading manufacturers in the country. “The expertise and experience of our partner Taba has helped us enormously in successful business development,” reports Delgado.
