The Innsbruck cycling company of former top athletes Thomas Rohregger and Patrick Ortlieb and director Markus Mitterrutzner, previously Signa manager, has gone bankrupt. The debts amounted to approximately 780,000 euros. What happens next is still unclear.
According to the Credit Protection Association of 1870, insolvency proceedings were opened on Wednesday at the Innsbruck Regional Court over the assets of Masterpiece Bike & Sport GmbH, based in Innsbruck, behind the “Podio Bikes & More” store on Grabenweg.
Ortlieb, Rohregger and Mitterrutzner
Behind the company founded in 2021, which sells bicycles and offers repairs, there are prominent names: according to the report, former Olympic ski champion and world champion Patrick Ortlieb and ex-professional cyclist Thomas Rohregger served as shareholders, among others. The previous director was Markus Mitterrutzner, who was briefly federal director of the FPÖ in the early 2000s and later worked around the bankrupt Signa Group. Other shareholders include a company called RedHead Gmbh from Switzerland and Masterpiece, Communication & Events GmbH.
Renovation is being sought
It was said that the bankruptcy petition was filed by the company itself. The credit protectors did not yet have verified information about the reasons. It remains to be seen whether operations can continue, it said. According to KSV 1870, management is pursuing restructuring.
