The government program was presented only a few days ago, but the new Minister of Finance apparently has its own ideas. He wants a special tax for energy companies, which is supposed to wash another 250 million euros in the state treasury. This is not referred to in the government program, ÖVP and Neos are irritated. In the meantime, the Spö minister will probably have given, as the “Kroon” has learned.
“Contribution of energy management” – an extensive word, for the new left -wing finance minister Markus Marterbauer, apparently the means of elections to more tax companies. Producers have to pay three euros for every Megawatt hour of ECO stream that they produce, and four euros would even be due to fossils.
This income must then be used for the purpose of the energy transition, is in the design, which is also available for the “Kroon”. It is being upgraded with such a measure, another 250 million euros.
Special load would heat the electricity prices
There is no question of the government program. It only includes an extension of the existing contribution of the energy crisis, which is 200 million euros. The solo goal of Marterbauer therefore caused surprise among the two coalition partners. It is said from high ÖVP circles that you will not support a measure that drives up electricity prices. But that would be the case with such a measure. The Neos also do not think much about the proposal mentioned in paper.
Moreover, according to the renewable industry, it would make investments in the energy industry more unattractive. The “Austria’s energy” association warns of “targeted increasing electricity”. In the meantime, the Spö also seems to take a step back and to deviate from the idea. Because the negotiator circles can be heard that the volume of 200 million euros stays in the government program, there are only different approaches to achieve this goal. A new special load must therefore be off the table again.
Red city Vienna hardly enthusiastic about proposal
And even within social democracy, there is no understanding of the advance everywhere. The Vienna, which is owned by the Red Capital, is one of the major operators of the power plant in the country and would be massively struck by such a tax.
In any case, there can be no perfect start to the new government of three people. A first small dispute is now available a few days after the commissioning.
