Despite the austerity course at Volkswagen, the employees will receive an unspour premium this year. In recent years there have always been a few thousand euros per person distributed. How high the payment will be, this time is still open.
This depends on the win in the previous year, which the group wants to announce on Tuesday, as well as the win 2023. The largest car manufacturer in Europe recently expected 18 billion euros for 2024.
Last year the premium was 4735 euros per employee. In the past, the bonus was sometimes considerably higher. In 2012 and 2013, more than 7,000 euros were distributed per employee.
From 2026, employees have to prepare for considerably less money: shortly before Christmas, the IG Metall and Volkswagen Union agreed to share the profit sharing temporarily. Instead, there will be a fixed prior payment of almost 2000 euros in 2026 and 2027. Then the bonus must be gradually increased to the old level by 2031.
Volkswagen has around 120,000 employees in Germany.
