Chaos in Germany – Verdi Warning Strike: 45 flights in Austria canceled

Date:

The Verdi strike caused chaos on Hamburg Airport-De Stripes on Sunday started unexpectedly a day earlier than planned. The national strike follows on Monday and paralyzes 13 airports. Travelers must adapt to massive failures. Austria has not been spared either.

The German Verdi Union started its warning strikes at 13 German airports and thus paralyzed large parts of air traffic. Employees of the public service of the airport operators, soil traffic services and the air protection areas in various tariff conflicts have been on site since 0.00 am, as confirmed spokesperson for the trade union. The warning strike must take 24 hours.

45 flights from Austria canceled
Austria is also hit hard: such as the airport of Vienna on Sunday on Sunday, 45 flights between Vienna and German airports will be canceled on Monday. Countless flights between German airports and Graz, Salzburg, Linz, Innsbruck and Klagenfurt were also canceled.

There are no passengers with the Tibling Frankfurt, and the transit traffic will certainly be influenced by the effects, the Operator Fraport warned. The airport operator calls on the passengers not to go to the terminals.

Berlin: to expect chaos to be expected
At some airports, the strike campaigns only started in the early morning. At the Hoofdlin Airport of Berlin the strike to the first service started at 3.30 pm – however, only a few stream items were on site, said trade union secretary Enrico Rümker in the morning. Start and landings will probably not exist. However, Rümker does not expect any major chaos on Ber, because there were no major problems in recent years thanks to timely announcements about strikes. Berlin Airport had already stated in advance: “All planned departure and arrivals will be influenced by the strikes and therefore cannot take place.”

The scoreboard also showed countless coated flights in Düsseldorf in the morning, a DPA reporter reported. However, a complete stagnation could not stop – a few travelers were checked in and give up their luggage. A few was taken to Münster airport, which was not influenced by the strike, to keep flying from there.

Traffic management said there will be no passenger aircraft on Monday at Frankfurt Airport. 1,116 planned flight movements were canceled 1,054. Only a few arrivals are planned – partly with passengers, partly as empty flights.

According to estimates from the ADV Airport Association, more than 3,400 flights fail due to the strike in public service and for soil traffic services. About 510,000 passengers cannot compete as planned. On an average day there are around 6,000 flight movements and 3,000 floors at German airports.

Warning strikes even greater than planned
Verdi said on Saturday about the warning strikes in the public service announced in public service in public service. Among other things, the passenger, staff, goods and freight control as well as service areas are affected. The background is the current rate conflict with the Federal Association of Air Security Companies (BDLS), the next negotiation round is planned for 26 and 27 March.

The public service will take place on Friday (March 14) in Potsdam. The warning strikes must be continued this week in other federal and municipalities.

The airports Hamburg, Bremen, Hanover, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Cologne/Bonn, Leipzig/Halle, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich are hit by the strikes. At the airports Weeze and Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, only air safety employees are called to the strip.

Requirements: More wages and extra days off
The requirements of the trade are clear: 8 percent more wages at at least 350 euros more per month, as well as three extra days. Until now, employers have not presented a specific offer. This is concerned about “a lot of resentment” and many discussions with the employees, said DPA trade union secretary Rümker. “The expectation is that the collective negotiations will now be underway during the weekend.”

In air safety, Verdi calls for improving the health protection of the profession and health, 30 days of vacation and extra holiday for shifts and the free choice of the doctor in the regular compulsory medical investigations of the employees. The employers organized in the BDLs criticized the warning strikes, negotiator Christian Huber described them as “not appropriate”.

In the current collective negotiation round of the public service, the airports in Cologne, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Munich have already been a strike, where there were countless cancellations. According to ADP, 800,000 passengers had already been hit.
