A Polish electrician is unemployed for six years. The 62-year-old speaks about himself as a “parasite”, but he has not chosen his fate himself, he wants to work, but does not get a chance. A completely different reality of life shows the life of Dominik Hansabut, who no longer comes to rest.
“Krone”: Mr. Olechno, you have been unemployed for six years. How did it come about?
Lech Oleechno: My curriculum vitae is complicated. I come from Poland, where I completed my training as an electrician. Perestroika came in the nineties and I was released. Shortly thereafter I saw a TV program that was about Polish citizens abroad and how well they could, I also dreamed of a better life, so I took the first train to the west to go to Lille. In France it was difficult to find work, so I continued to Germany. In Hamburg I finally found a good job on holiday on ice.
