The German authenture of Mercedes has announced a large savings program. In the coming years, around 30,000 jobs must be saved in production, sales and administration. The employees now receive “Golden Handshake” of a maximum of 500,000 euros.
The thick dismissal payments must help to save the group around five billion euros by 2027. Songs from the intranet that are available for the “Handelsblatt” show: Mercedes takes a lot of money in hand.
How much the employees receive for a voluntary termination depends on the position, the years of work and the salary. Three examples:
- A 55-year-old team leader with 30 years of professional experience and a gross monthly salary of 9000 euros can take 500,000 euros.
- A clerk (45) with the right professional experience can expect up to 300,000 euros.
- But employees from the middle of the 30 can already count on a “golden handshake” of a maximum of 100,000 euros.
The severance allowance program with the name “Next Level Performance” (NLP) starts in April, lasts until March 2026.
Protection against dismissal by 2035
As usual with such measures, double volunteer applies. The employees must terminate to accept the severance payment. At the same time, the company must also agree. Mercedes -Baas Ola Kälenius and board councilor Ergun Lümali had informed Lümali in a video message about the author’s measures.
In March the group had agreed the savings program with the General Loze Council. Until 2035, the operational dismissal at Mercedes-Benz is excluded. At the same time, employees without a rate increase are reducing the profit premium this year.
“We look at our full business model and every cost category,” Kälenius announced in February. “To guarantee the future competitiveness of the company in an ever -inconsistent world, we are taking measures to make the company slimmer, faster and stronger.”
