Aena posted a net profit of EUR 163.8 million in the first six months of the year, which represents an improvement in its result of 147.3% compared to the same period in 2021, when it had a loss of EUR 346.4 million. The number of passengers in the first six months of the year in Spain increased by 287.7% to 104.9 million, equivalent to 82% of traffic in the first half of 2019, before the pandemic.

The increase has been generalized in all airports and in all types of traffic: domestic traffic has increased by 142.6%, while international traffic has increased by 469%.

Taking into account the data from Luton Airport (London) and the six airports of Aena Brasil, the total number of passengers is 117.3 million, 257.3% more than the same period in 2021, corresponding to a recovery of 81.8% of 2019 traffic

Gross operating income (Ebitda) also turned positive at EUR 631.3 million, compared to -58.2 in the same period of 2021.

Likewise, total consolidated revenues increased to 1,720.6 million euros in this period, 99.4% more than in the first six months of 2021.

The increase in traffic has translated into an increase in aviation revenues, which increased by 192.5% to EUR 1,072.3 million, while Aena’s commercial revenues increased by 0.3% to EUR 398 million.

In the second quarter of 2022, excluding DF7 accounting adjustments, the level of commercial revenues for the same period in 2019 has recovered.

In this section, the company has emphasized that the Minimum Guaranteed Annual Income (RMGA) for Aena rentals is still affected by the application of Act 13/2021 in the seventh final provision, which restricts the lease or transfer contracts of business premises for restaurant or retail activities. that were in force on March 14, 2020 or were previously tendered.

Similarly, Aena’s consolidated accounting net financial debt decreased to 6,984.3 million euros (including 496 million euros from the consolidation of the debt of Luton Airport and 2.9 million euros from Aena Brasil), compared to 7,446.3 million euros at the end of the year. 2021.

In this way, the debt ratio, measured as net financial debt on Ebitda, is reduced to 5.2 times, compared to 11.5 times on December 31, 2021.

On the other hand, in its meeting of yesterday, July 26, 2022, Aena’s board of directors approved the tariff proposal applicable from March 1, 2023, setting the maximum adjusted annual income per passenger (IMAAJ) for 2023 at 10:01 am. euros per passenger, representing a variation of 0.69% from the 2022 IMAAJ (9.95 euros per passenger).

The investment amount that Aena is estimated to carry out in 2022 in the airport network in Spain is EUR 535 million, of which EUR 180.6 million was implemented on June 30, 2022.

As of June 30, 2022, the company has cash and credit facilities of EUR 2,421.4 million, to which is added the option to issue up to EUR 900 million through the Euro Commercial Paper (ECP) programme. full.
