Savings and optimisations are the order of the day, overtime and vacation are dismantled, leasing phases must also go, even for regular staff, the measures do not stop – these are all symptoms of the tense economic situation in many areas. “However, the need for trained employees is unchanged,” emphasizes the Upper Austria Markus Achleitner of the state of Markus Achleitner.
Now that unemployment is increasing, less support for companies that are desperately looking for top forces are needed – this misconception is even in Upper Austria, and therefore managers are therefore repeatedly compensated by managers. The state council of the Upper Austria Markus Achleitner also has such circumstances and warns against the glue.
“You don’t have to make the mistake of believing two or three years of the economic diploma that you can find employees more easily again. The economic stamp only breathes,” said the ÖVP politician. The demographic change, which means that more people retire than fulfilling the labor market, will leave traces. About 83,500 missing specialists are predicted for 2030, and by 2040 they even expected around 151,000 employees.
“There will be no area that has no influence on demography small and medium-sized companies and the public sector to the large industrial and technology groups,” said Achleitner.
18 million euros more
This year, 385 million euros in subsidies were made available in the location program for work in Upper Austria called Upperwork. This is an increase of nearly 18 million euros compared to the year before for which the Labor Market Service Upper Austria, the state of Upper Austria and the Upper Austria Ministry of Social Affairs pay. More than 128,000 people will benefit from this this year: exactly 71,359 women and 57,286 men.
Second Ökotech Academy planned
The initiatives are also visible in the form of further training institutions: a logistics training center is planned in Wels and the Ökotech Academy is also expanded with a second location. Here you can think of the Linz-Land/Steyrr region, the focus must be on hydrogen technology. Despite all the qualification offensives, Achleitner does not indicate any illusions: “We are fighting a fight against long -term unemployment,” he says.
And indeed: in February the AMS 9151 reported people who were a long -term employee. Compared to the same month in the previous year, this is an increase of 2450 people. A consequence of the current economic crisis, which makes the mediation of employees tough again. Iris Schmidt, general manager of the Labor Market Service Upper Austria, also: “The phenomenon of long -term unemployment catches us. These are people with multiple disabilities – health problems, language barriers, missing or the wrong qualification.”
