Dussmann Offessene – In schools and hospitals: Robots now clean

Date:

Will robots replace people? In times when artificial intelligence increases, hardly anything seems impossible. A specialist for building cleaning, security and catering also uses technical progress. A robot for Dussmann Austria is already served when cleaning two hospitals and a school.

Large walking areas that are mainly time-consuming for people who agree on robots-this is what the Dussmann managers emphasize, who have a cleaning robot in the AKH Vienna. Every working day from 4 p.m. at level 8, a robot cleans the public space.

The assignment was well prepared – all affected departments were admitted, as well as hospital hygiene and infection control and technical management. “Especially in very sensitive areas such as hospitals, the potential of the new technologies is far from exhausted for even more efficient processes,” Dussmann Austria director Peter Edelmayer is convinced.

The AKH Vienna, the largest hospital in Austria, sees itself by using the cleaning robot in a role as a “pioneer for the work of the future”, such as Michael Holub, the deputy head of the hospital department, says. For the Dussmann team, the use of the technical colleague lighting means. “The robot releases resources for specific tasks that the human eye needs,” said Branch Manager Gunther Weber.

Areas of application expanded
The machine cleans 9000 square meters every day because the scope in the Vienna AKH has now also been expanded by public gang areas to the bottom of the lecture hall center. Incidentally, the robot works autonomously, automatically drives to the docking station to dissolve, light empty water and fill fresh water. The cleaning robots are always well received by Dussmann: So some in the HTL Villach and in the LKH Graz take over tasks.

Dussmann also dares to use robots in the service area. A serviceer robot is used in a company restaurant in Carinthia, which can at the same time serve a maximum of four tablets. He rarely needs breaks: he can work for 12 to 15 hours, then he needs a load again. Privacy is guaranteed. Audio signals that are included from the area are not stored, it is said.

Dussmann had around 4,800 people in Austria in 2023 and generated 205 million euros in turnover. Austria’s head office is located in Linz.
