The European Union has granted a significant rejection of a requirement to Russia. The Kremlin continued the Ukraine negotiations on the abolition of the sanction policy. The response from Brussels is cool.
A spokeswoman for EU outside country Kaja Kallas in Brussels said that the proposals are noted to guarantee safe shipping in the Black Sea and to end the attacks on energy systems in Ukraine and Russia.
Russia now has to show real political will to put an end to his illegal and not -led aggression war. The EU is ready to support the following steps together with Ukraine, the US and other partners.
Unrealistic requirements such as tactics?
At the same time, it was made clear in Brussels that the EU is currently planning not to respond to the new Russian requirements for a cancellation of sanctions. As the German news agency of the European Commission and diplomats has learned, the conditions formulated by Moscow have probably not been discussed with the US government of President Donald Trump. Accordingly, they could mainly serve to slow the efforts to inhibit a cease -the fire in Ukraine.
In EU circles it was emphasized that it is particularly important in all possible steps that they are in the sense and for Ukraine. Releasing certain sanctions would therefore be conceivable if it contributes to a peace solution that is acceptable to Kiev.
Brussels wants to add to Kremlin
According to information from the EU foreign service, a 17th package with punitive measures against the Russian war war will continue to work against Ukraine. “The main focus of the EU remains to maximize the pressure on Russia by using all available instruments – including sanctions – to reduce Russia’s ability to manage Ukraine,” said the spokeswoman.
The safe merchant shipping in the Black Sea was sold by the United States on Tuesday as a positive result of individual discussions with representatives of Russia and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia.
Moscow, however, demands that the Russian Agricultural Bank and other money houses have returned to the International Financial Data System, which had been taken in the course of Western sanctions. The EU could only do this because the system has its location in Belgium.
Russia wants the end of Embargo
Russia also calls for the end of the embargo to import agricultural technology and other goods required for the production of food and fertilizers. The Kremlin also wants to see various other trade restrictions and sanctions.
According to Brussels, the EU is currently involved in Ukraine with the United States through the G7 group of large democratic industrial countries. However, there is no direct involvement in negotiations with Moscow.
