Volkswagen seems to find the way out of the crisis. The second largest car manufacturer in the world delivered more than twice as many electric cars in Europe in the first quarter of 2025 as in the previous year.
From January to March, more than 150,000 electric cars were transferred to customers, the group said on Wednesday. Last year there were 74,400 vehicles in the same period. In general, VW has registered an increase of 29 percent with all disc types.
The sale of fully electric vehicles has increased this year, although the pressure on the new car companies remains high and fewer cars are generally purchased. VW CEO Oliver Blume had already stated in March that the beginning of the year was better than expected.
“Our unique product offensive has arrived on the market,” he told “Bild”. Nevertheless, VW has to save further and it works intensively to reduce costs.
In Germany alone, almost every second newly approved car came from the Volkswagen Group, reports “Bild”. In total it was 112,968 units from January 2025, which the VW core brand had the largest share with 25,393. BMW follows in second place with 10,315, for Skoda, Audi and Seat, which achieved 9258, 8634 and 8063 new registrations.
