The majority of the Austrians sees the presidency of Donald Trump as a threat to Europe and would like more independence from the United States.
A survey published on Thursday shows that only one fifth of the respondents expect positive developments for the EU during Trump’s term of office. Another fifth assumes that there will be no significant effects. 55 percent of the participants even see Republican’s presidency as a danger to the EU. Only 32 percent of the total of 1,000 respondents are for compromises with Trump, including especially fans of the FPö (50 percent).
Boycott American products? 71 percent of the respondents can imagine that. 20 percent, however, exclude such a step. Interesting details: under the FPö voters and voters, only 38 percent reject a boycott of American products.
Two -thirds of the respondents consider AI apps as not necessary
The willingness to do without digital services is considerably lower. In the best case, 45 percent of respondents would do without social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp or X. For 47 percent it is conceivable to no longer buy online shopping platforms such as Amazon or eBay. 53 percent indicate without being able to do without streaming services such as Netflix or Spotify. According to the survey, the removal of AI applications such as Chatgpt or Alexa would be more painful: two -thirds of the respondents consider these technologies unnecessary.
60 percent don’t want to travel to the US under Trump
All these offers show a clear difference in the field of a clear generation – the younger the respondents, the less the willingness to do without doing. A holiday trip to the US (while Trump’s period) is currently excluded for 60 percent of the population, only a third would be ready.
