Innsbruck airport registered a “strong winter season”. With Exact 532,975 passengers in the first quarter and an increase of 1.2 percent, those responsible are very satisfied. The new routes to Madrid, Warsaw and Riga had contributed positively.
With the more than half a million passengers in line and charter traffic, the first quarter of 2025 alone was the third strongest in the history of the airport. For the entire year 2025 “a stable basis for further development and economic success” must be laid, says it from the airport.
New connections well received
Positive impulses for the winter season of 2024/25 were also set by the three newly introduced routes to and from Madrid with Iberia, Warsaw with Lot Polish Airlines and Austrian airlines and Riga with Airbaltic. All three routes have already been confirmed for the next winter season 2025/26 and can already be booked.
Marco director of the Airport Marco Pernetta emphasizes how important a successful winter season is for the regional airport. “In the winter, the demand of the tourism sector is extremely high, which is very important for us economically, but also extreme requirements in the operational area, especially during the weekend.”
Waiting for Frankfurt Connection in the summer
Looking at the entire year, there is currently the biggest challenge to “bring a Hub connection with the Lufthansa route network in Frankfurt”, the people who are in charge, illuminate the recent connection for the summer flight schedule. “We assumed that we can offer a solution with the South Tyrolean Airline Skyalp during the summer. Unfortunately, the implementation of this project is now unexpectedly delayed,” explains Pernetta.
From Innsbruck back to Turkey
The summer season at Innsbruck Airport starts at the end of April. Again new this year is Turkey – in addition to the well -affected destinations of Greece, Italy, Spain and France.
