The machine specialist Holly from Hall in Tyrol moans under the development of the world market. The cup coffee is becoming more expensive, a few hundred devices have recently been demolished for cost reasons. However, optimism has not yet taken place.
It all started in 1976 with the sale of sausage rolls at Swarovski Optics in Absam. Just before the 50 -year anniversary, the Holly Holly now fills and provides around 10,000 machines in Tyrol. Usually with coffee – as a direct drink or freshly ground. Cold drinks and snacks have now arrived and you sell around 3,500 sandwiches that are prepared in the hall itself. In the coffee business, the Tyrolean market leader puts 30 percent of sales with gastronomy.
The market price has exploded
The most important care is currently a glimpse of coffee -within Latin -America in Latin: “Prices on the raw material market have risen by 147 percent in one year”, “Mraats Company Boss Bernhard Peskoller. Because coffee has long been a speculation object.
“It is impossible to pass these prices to the customer,” says authorized representative David Narr. For 20 years, the office coffee was now available for 50 cents. “Now we need at least 80 cents and the 1 euro limit can be reached soon.” A consequence is that machines with low sales have recently been resolved. “In a year and a half we broke down at least 300 to 400 machines. Every machine must be hit at least twice a week,” says Narr.
You should sell about 40 to 50 coffee in one day, so that a location is profitable.
Less demand from some large companies
At the same time, the staff was recently reduced in large companies and work classes were eliminated. In exchange, wages have been exploded. The fleet of 50 vehicles, including 10 electric cars, is also struggling with extra costs. Moreover, there is the conversion for paper cups that are being sought for reasons for environmental and sustainability reasons (twice as expensive with 4 cents as the former plastic cups).
Despite all these challenges, people believe in the machines as an “indispensable source of delivery”. Good things in strong phases now gives stability.
Vending machines are no longer in the darkest corner
And another spark of hope for the Holly managers: “The acceptance in the company has increased. In the past, the coffee maker under the stairs was that employees there should not waste long. Today the machine is usually even welcome as an important center of employee communication.”
