In the case of a car acquisition, everyone has to buy the Drive type that best fits for their usage profile. But a trend is strengthened – and it leads more and more away from the internal combustion engine.
This is reported by the Wiener-Städtische with reference to a survey. According to this, 37 percent of the respondents (sample: 1000 people) would choose an electric car, followed by the gasoline engine with 27 and hybrid vehicle by 22 percent. A diesel would only be the first choice for eleven percent, three percent would like a hydrogen drive. The most important arguments for the Stromer are the operating costs, even just before the idea of the environment.
The high acquisition costs and the insufficient density of charging infrastructure would be considered discouraging. The costs for the purchase are seen very closely. “Three of the four respondents are ready to spend a maximum of 30,000 euros for an electric car. With the minimum range, more than a quarter of the respondents want more than 500 kilometers.
Very little driving more than 50 kilometers every day
85 percent of drivers drive a maximum of 50 kilometers per day, two percent rinsing of more than 150 kilometers per day. Almost three -quarters of the respondents use their car between 16 and 60 minutes a day. Almost half of the car owners use their vehicle for more than five years. Less than a year do this only 13 percent, more than 15 years 4 percent. The largest share of one to three years has (28 percent), according to the research result.
E-cars also in the course of Europe
After the weak last year, the electric vehicles also increased considerably throughout Europe. 412,997 New registrations mean an increase of 23.9 percent, the market share reached 15.2 percent. However, the demand for cars was weak in Europe in the first quarter of 2025. The ACEA Industry Association registered approximately 2.72 million new registrations in the EU, 1.9 percent less than in the first quarter of 2024.
Are the drivers of Austria the best in the world?
According to the Study of the Viennese city, 42 percent of car owners have a fully extensive insurance policy, with a partial extensive insurance policy it is 24 percent and the only liability insurance has 33 percent. Although domestic drivers can hardly get into a dangerous situation – because, according to their own assessment, they are almost all masters behind the Volant. “More than 80 percent are convinced that they are (very) good drivers,” says the city of Vienna. Only 14 percent is not very good, there is no sex difference – not even in the “very good” category.
Limit of 30 km/h distributes the population
And how do the Austrians keep with the speed limit? After 30 km/h in cities and municipalities there is a patient with opponents and supporters. It is not surprising that approval for people without a car is considerably higher than with car owners. A third of the respondents have spoken for speed 150 on the highway. The seizure of racers supports more than half of the participants of the survey, one fifth rejects them.
The car is very important for 28 percent of the urban and 47 percent of the rural population. Almost two -thirds of the respondents have at least one car, an almost quarter uses the vehicle or family of a partner. Only four percent stated that they had a service car that they can also use privately.
