The lack of teachers and politics has been working for several years. Despite some efforts – keyword career changers – there are still hundreds of functions available for the coming school year. Striking: staff is missing, especially with the most important topics.
The most important tender for teachers for the coming school year starts on Monday. By far the most new teaching staff is currently being sought in Vienna, these are almost 2000 messages, followed by Lower Austria and Tyrol, each with about thousands. Almost 650 teachers are currently being searched in Upper Austria. That is 100 less than at the start of the current school year.
The “Kroon” asked the Education Directorate in Upper Austria, where the shoe is particularly urgent. Accordingly, 281 places are currently being advertised at the compulsory schools (US, MS and Poly). At least 335 are advertised for General Education Higher Schools (AHS) and the vocational training in secondary and secondary schools and 22 jobs are advertised at professional schools.
Regional differences
“Especially with the most important topics such as German, mathematics, English and in scientific topics and movement and exercise and sport, the need is clear – although we mainly observe different challenges in these areas,” says the educational directorate on this subject.
Hundreds of pension
There is also the subject of pension. Here the Education Directorate says: “In principle, predictions are difficult to create, because educators can retire between 63 and 65.
Not only teachers, but also director are being sought. In the mandatory schools there are even 45 for the coming year. Five of them at primary schools alone in Linz. Applications are currently also possible here.
Education director Alfred Klampfer is confident despite the eternal search for teachers. “We are looking forward to the applications of many motivated colleagues. In recent years, intensive work and important changes in the personnel area have been formed. The generation change has been well advanced and countless new, dedicated teachers have won. We have employed more than 10,000 new teachers in the last seven years.”
