According to fast estimate, the inflation of Austria in April was 3.1 percent. The increase was mainly due to massively more expensive package trips and services (inflation 4.8 percent). In March, inflation was still 2.9 percent.
The prices for food, tobacco and alcohol rose slightly above average by 3.2 percent in April. Energy prices only rose by 0.7 percent and therefore remained under general inflation. The significantly reduced fuel prices would have largely compensated the effects of the increased electricity price brake, said Statistics Austria, general manager Tobias Thomas.
Industrial goods rose by 0.9 percent at the annual distance. The aim of the European Central Bank is approximately two percent inflation, of which Austria is considerably removed by 3.1 percent.
This is how the inflation of Austria has developed since 2023:
German inflation at 2.1 percent
In Germany, however, cheaper energy pressed on inflation for the lowest level for six months. In April, goods and services only rose by 2.1 percent compared to the previous year. This is the lowest value since October 2024.
