Every year the A1 Telekom Austria Austria rejects hundreds in Austria – this again evokes the staff representative. In an open letter to the Minister of Economy Hattmannsdorfer, the Council of the Company warns the group that has ‘a gradual emigration of a leading company’ and calls for a more active role in the Republic.
“A weakening of the location and the gradual emigration of a domestic leading company,” fears Alexander Sollak, who is on its way to the Council of the Logging of the Group Occupation. With an open letter he now turns to the Minister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer who is responsible for the state that holds Öbag. The “crown” is the letter.
Öbag is co -owner of the A1
The ÖVP minister has announced in various interviews, also in the “Krone”, to change Öbag. It must be strategically reoriented and act more than before. In addition to Post, OMV and Casinos, the participation of ÖBAG also includes the telecom operator A1 with more than 6,000 employees, including around 250 in the interest, the state currently has 28 percent.
Sollak, who is also in the ÖGB Federal Board, fears that a hollowing of the location and essential business functions can be bundled abroad. “Competence Delivery Centers” (competence centers) play a role in which activities in the group are summarized, most of these jobs have Bulgaria. The group justifies this to want to do activities in the group several times, especially for every single market,
“Expanding essential parts of the company”
“In the true sense of the word, it is a movement of essential parts of the company,” says the letter – a Bulgarian company with head office in Vienna, so to speak. Essential decisions can be made outside Austria. Hundreds of jobs from Austria have disappeared every year, and this year there will be 400 less. Recently A1 -Baas Alejandro Plater told the “Krone” that 2800 people should be used in the competence centers in the future.
However, the Council of De Weren not only sees the corresponding reductions critically, it also warns of less national sovereignty in connection with critical IT and telecom infrastructure. The A1 is the largest mobile phone company in Austria and invests half a billion euros in Germany every year.
“It is also the location and industrial policy reasons, as well as the important role of Öbag that led us to tackle this letter to them,” Sollak writes to Hattmannsdorfer. The State currently has around 28 percent of A1. The syndicate contract with the Republic States that essential business functions in Austria must be protected. This agreement could be eroded, Sollak feared.
He therefore appeals to Hattmannsdorfer, in the future, as announced, to implement a more active participation policy “and not only to look at dividend maximization in the involvement of the Öbag. The role of the Republic if the owner must be actively observed.”
Minister: “Save jobs and added value in the country”
In a rather vague explanation, Minister Hattmannsdorfer means the “Kroon” that “he takes the concern of the staff representative and the Union very seriously.” That is why he also contacted the business management and asked them to comment. A meeting between Öbag and employee representatives will take place soon. In any case, it is a concern to “further strengthen Austria as an economic and technological location and to guarantee qualified jobs and added value in the country.”
