At the beginning of July, everyone was surprised by the news: Franz Joseph Doppler is separating from his gas station network and selling it to the Polish Orlen Group. The deal surrounding the Turmöl brand has now been given the green light by the European Union. The sale is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
At the Park Hyatt Hotel in Vienna, Franz Joseph Doppler announced that he would sell Doppler Energie GmbH and thus the entire network of his discount gas stations to the Polish Orlen Group. Now there is also the green light from the European Commission! From the turn of the year, the 266 Turmöl petrol stations will be managed by Orlen.
While the purchase price remains undisclosed, Doppler is more aggressive about its future plans. The entrepreneur from Wels (Upper Austria) wants to be more involved in the liquefied gas market in the future and will also remain the owner of mineral oil logistics. According to the EU, the takeover will not lead to competition problems. The reason for this is the limited common market position of the two companies.
