A band had sat down next to the entrance. Inside, more than 250 employees attended the opening of the machine automation innovation and education campus. ABB caused a stir in Eggelsberg on Monday 11 July when ABB CEO Björn Rosengren officially inaugurated the €100 million investment at B&R, part of the Swiss group since 2017. B&R has created 1,000 jobs as a result of the expansion and 400 of the vacancies are already filled in, Rosengren said in an interview.
At the table where Björn Rosengren is in Eggelsberg automation specialist B&R after the opening of the Innovation and Education Campus, there is a bowl of candy. The ABB boss reaches for a Mozartkugel: “I like it so much.”
“OÖ Krone”: Mr. Rosengren, the campus is extremely important to ABB. Why this?
Bjorn Rosengren:We have to be attractive to employees, there are many industrial companies in the area. We also want to appeal to more women, so we are also going to set up childcare.
How did 2021 go for B&R?
It was a challenging time. Our production was very slow because we were missing a lot of parts. The past year has been full of crises here because we couldn’t deliver our products.
And now?
The worst time is over. It seems that the supply chains are safe.
What do you think of the four-day workweek that is on the rise?
This is a frightening development. If countries want investment, they shouldn’t go that way.
