At European level, Tyrolean becomes president of the youth party

Date:

Sophia Kircher becomes the first Austrian president of the Young European’s Party (Yepp). It was chosen on Saturday with 86.7 percent of the votes in Brussels. There was also Minister of Europe Claudia Plakolm.

“We can be proud of Sophia Kircher, with whom the Yepp places a powerful, successful young woman at the top. She will continue to work with a strong voice for young people and the enforcement power of the largest political party youngsters in Europe is guaranteed,” Plakolm is convinced. The Yepp comprises 51 youth organizations with nearly 1.4 million members. The young people’s party, whose chairman is Plakolm, continued to put responsibilities.

Sophia Kircher (31) replaces the sitting president from Spain Lídia Pereira (Social Democrata of Juventude). She has been the federal party chairman of the ÖVP since March 2025 and since May 2021 Federal Obvian Deputy. She also works in the Tyrolean ÖVP, since June 2023 Kircher has been a Yepp vice president.

“I will continue to work for the fact that young voices are heard at all levels (…). Our generation is confronted with challenges that require long -term solutions – from herds crisis to herds to Europe boundaries to migration and disinformation to climate change and the ever greater polarization (…),” Kircher said.

The youth of the European People’s Party was founded in Brussels in 1997. 211 delegates and around 250 participants would go to the conference.
