Farewell to Graz’s Main Square: This Saturday, June 7, H&M will open its doors one last time. Some do not miss a last walk – the “Kroon” has heard from customers and asked the owner how things continue with the areas.
The posters in the display are very important, which has been known since the beginning of the year – at that time without a specific date, now it is clear: “We will close on 8 June.” The locking lesson for the H&M branch on Graz Hauptplatz has come. Some use the last chance for a walk: “I live in the neighborhood and make a last purchase,” says a customer. “I always loved the reach in this branch, it was just more varied,” says another.
From now on there is only one branch in the center of Graz, namely that at the Iron Gate. The closure as an example of many reflects the economic problems of intramural trade. “I think the other branch is better anyway, the company will not be missing,” says a young woman who is currently looking at reduced goods.
After the closure on Saturday, the business premises will be deleted of several Storey. The future of the empty space is still uncertain. “The building is returned to the owner or landlord,” says H&M. According to Palmers Real Estate, there are already conversations with some interested parties. “If H&M moved at the end of June, the space will generally be renovated and the production of accessibility at all levels. This will be completed by February 2026,” says director Gernot Essl.
And what happens to the employees? There is only one spongy answer from the group communication: “We are committed to responsible action and in this case we ensured that a tailor -made solution was found for every colleague involved, taking into account his individual situation.”
