New bars – Lots of fresh wind in the Neusiedler -Gastronomy

Date:

Times are difficult, but different bars are open in the Neusiedl Am See District in Burgenland. The motives are different.

Since the fall of the previous year there have been two new restaurants in Nickelsdorf. The Syrian brothers Ali and Luai Alhusein took over “the risa”. The two came to Nickelsdorf in 2015. For two years they led a great one when the host of the “Risa” retired, they took over both the restaurant and the post partner.

There is the Austrian dishes combined with delicacies from the Middle East. “In the summer we also want to breathe new life into our experience of this year and also make a small Heuriger card,” explains the brothers. There is also a menu with meat and one for Vetarians every day.

From June to September with an option for extension
Since June 6, the “Wirtshaus for the third day” has been only a few hundred meters further to the border. In the former FALB restaurant, Yannik Steer, Jürgen Fetz and Johanna Maroušek invite the Pop-up Gasthuis. For the time being, only Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be locked up – until September. It will then be decided whether an year -round company should be.

Yannik Steer got to know the restaurant because he had always come to the “confrontations” – a jazz event that has already reached a cult status in the scene. When FALB 2020 blocked the restaurant, Yannik and his team only opened the restaurant when the “confrontations” were discussed again. He recognized the potential of the location. This gave rise to the idea of locking up for longer.

There will be tavern classics such as Grillhendl or Kruidvlekkerl (sweet or salt), but also dishes with a special twist, such as a trout toast. Steer is not an empty sheet in the local scene, because he leads a club and a bar in Vienna.

From Switzerland to Frauenkirchen
Rene Karner has carrots in PowerDorf am See and came to Austria a few years ago to take care of his elderly parents.

“I worked in Podersdorf in the summer, in the winter I had to go to Tyrol for the season. I didn’t want that anymore.” When he heard that Nati’s pit stop in Frauenkirchen would close, it was clear to him: “This is exactly the thing for my partner and me. The small restaurant can easily be managed for two with small dishes.”

A house with a lot of history in Jois
De Salithahof in Jois has been around since 1956. “It was built as a counterpart to Grinzing,” says Peter Waldbott, the great grandson of Archduke Friedrich. He led the restaurant with his son until 2023.

Now Peter Heinrich has taken over. He has known the farm since 1996 and is friends with Waldbott. “Over time, I kept asking Peter if he didn’t want to lease the Saliterhof. In August of the previous year he finally said yes,” laughs Heinrich. The restaurant must be managed in the same way as the Forest Botts. “Because that was very professional,” said the Manners Dorfer.
