Good news for everyone who wants to buy an electrically operated moped or motorcycle or has already bought one this year: the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure is expanding the financing for Single-Track E-Mobile vehicles and starts the financing spot at 1.5 million euros.
Despite the tense budget situation, the mobility minister Peter Hanke makes it clear: “With the expansion of the financing for e-kfz with one lane and the expansion of the e-charging infrastructure, we have a strong signal for the mobility transition. E-car Two wheels are Space saving, Sufficient range.”
Financing from September – also possible afterwards
Applications can be submitted from September 2025, the program runs until spring 2026. If you have already an e-moped or e-motorcycle has expired the old financing since February 2025, you can request support.
Only two-wheeled e-small vicinos of the L1E classes (for example mopeds) and L3e (eg motorcycles) are financed. Important: these are vehicles that run on the street – not on cycle paths. The e-scooters or e-scooters, which are widespread in cities such as Vienna, with which the food heaters are on the road, are therefore not under financing.
“Climate -friendly, space -saving and affordable”
Karin Munk, general secretary of the Arge 2rad, welcomes the expansion of the financing: “This decision is a strong signal for a climate -friendly, space -retaining and affordable mobility future -so in the city as in rural areas.”
The financing even goes to a market segment that has not yet experienced the same tree as E-cars or electric bicycles. While the federal subsidy for electric cars (3000 euros per vehicle) was expired in February and was not extended, the ministry is now focusing on the expansion of electric two -wheeler mobility.
Travel circulation: E-two-wheelers as an alternative to the second car
The goal is clear: electric vehicles with one track must replace combustion carts in the future, especially where the vehicles are only used for short distances anyway. In combination with the planned expansion of the charging infrastructure, the ministry wants to further increase the attractiveness of e-mobility.
Financing percentages in detail
Individuals can be reimbursed up to 50 percent of acquisition costs, companies, clubs and local authorities up to 30 percent. The exact financing percentages:
- 950 euros (600 euros from the BMIMI, 350 euros from two-wheeled importers) for e-gemops (class L1E)
- 1700 euros (1200 euros of the BMIMI, 500 euros from importers) for E-motorcycles in the L3E class under 11 KW-Ditse can also be powered with the B-Drivers License and Code 111, which requires six hours of driving in the driving lesson).
- 2300 euros (1800 euros from the BMIMI, 500 euros from importers) for e-motorcycles in the L3E class of more than 11 kW.
No applications can be made yet. The ministry announces that they will be announced in the coming months about the process and the financing guidelines.
E-motorcycles are more expensive than “gasoline”
Of course the prices of electric motorcycles are higher than those of people with gasoline, where models with 125 ccm are sometimes available for 2500 euros. Munk: “For electric motorcycles, prices start at 3500 euros.” Electromobility financing must now ensure a new thrust on the sale. If you are considering switching to a quiet, emission -free electric motorcycle or moped, you must keep an eye on the financing.
