241 Dead, a broken call and an overwhelming group: after the crash of a Boeing in India, the doubts about the security of American machines increase. The crown spoke with line pilot and air sparing expert Thomas Friesacher. He explains how Boeing slid into the crisis and why the European competitor Airbus withdraws.
While the exams for the crash of a Boeing 787 in India are still running with 241 dead, the next Air India machine had to return to the starting airport on Monday. The pilot suspected a technical incident. It was a precautionary measure. Whether the reversal was necessary or not, the pilot’s reaction shows that trust in Boeing machines is being hit. The Indian authorities have now announced a special monitoring of all Boeing 787 aircraft in the country.
“Boeing is counted,” says aerial expert Thomas Friesacher in an interview with the “Krone”. What is currently happening around the American manufacturer is no longer a breakdown, but the result of years of failure. Two fatal accidents and various almost disasters have shocked trust enormously.
Two Crashes, 346 dead
In 2018 and 2019, two 737 Max machines, once in Indonesia, fell in Ethiopia. The trigger was a mistake in the assisted software that surprised the pilots and took all controls to them. 346 people died.
